As 2012 ends with a flurry of activity, 2013 certainly doesn’t start in sleepy state. A Marylebone store has always been the aspiration for Charles Burnand and following several near misses and failed attempts to secure premises with the W1 postcode, we finally strike gold. May be it is “eighth time lucky” but the previous seven have certainly helped cut our teeth on the legal processes – it is just a shame that it comes with a hefty price tag!
A deceptively large shop comes on the market in Crawford Street. Sadly for the landlord, the investment in converting the old layout into a light and bright office space for an estate agent (who pulls out half way through the works) is all ripped out and painted black, Charles Burnand style. Florescent lighting does no justice to our products, nor our employees! Several large tins of Farrow & Ball “pitch black” later and the shell is complete.
